朝崎郁恵
1935年11月11日、奄美・加計呂麻(カケロマ)島・花富生まれ。
奄美諸島で古くから唄い継がれてきた奄美島唄の唄者(ウタシャ)。
島唄の研究に情熱を傾けた父・辰恕 (たつじょ)の影響を受け、天性の素質を磨き10代にして天才唄者として活躍。不世出の唄者と謳われる福島幸義に師事。千年、あるいはそれ以上前からとも言われる奄美島唄の伝統を守りながら、彼女をリスペクトする坂本龍一、UA、ゴンチチ、上妻宏光、姫神など数多くのアーティストと共演。ニューヨーク、ロサンゼルス、キューバなどの海外公演を始め、国内では国立劇場10年連続公演等、数々の大舞台を踏む。
1997年に発表した、高橋全のピアノとのコラボレーションによるミニアルバム「海美(あまみ)」で、細野晴臣や UAなど音楽界に多くの信奉者を作り、注目を浴びる。
その後67才の時に「うたばうたゆん」でメジャーデビュー。以降 「うたあしぃび」、「おぼくり」、ピアニスト・ウォン ウィンツァンとのコラボレーション 「シマユムタ」、シタール奏者ヨシダダイキチとのコラボレートアルバム「はまさき」、 ベスト盤「おぼくり～ええうみ」などを発表。
2009年には、NHK大河ドラマ「篤姫」劇中曲（作曲：吉俣良）に、初の標準日本語をのせた「阿母（あんま）」（作詞：UA）をフィーチャーしたマキシアルバムを発表。
2010年秋、世界から集まった「１３人のグランドマザー」の第８回 世界会議に奄美のおばあちゃんとして参加。
2011年4月より放送中の、NHK BSプレミアム番組「新日本風土記」のテーマ曲「あはがり」を唄い好評を得る。
同年、南海日々新聞から「ピアノと島唄のコラボレーションという新しい手法で島唄を知らない人々にも唄の深みと『奄美』を広めた」功績により第35回南海文化賞を贈られる。
近年は、ピアノのみならず世界中の様々な民族楽器でも島唄を唄い、その魂を揺さぶる深い声霊は、世代や人種を超えて多くの人々に感動としあわせを届けている。
Ikue Asazaki
Ikue Asazaki (born 11 November 1935) is an Utasha artist, who is known for her performance in the traditional Amami Shimauta (folk song).
She was born in Kedomi, Kakeroma Island, Amami Islands. Her father Tatsujo, influenced her early music strongly during her upbringing. she further developed her innate musical talent and was acclaimed as a genius singer in her early teens.
Ikue has performed concerts around the world in such places as New York, Los Angeles, and Cuba. She has also performed extensively in Japan, including a series of concerts for 10 years at the National Theater of Japan.
In 1997, Ikue released her debut mini album, "Amami" , featuring with piano performance. The album made a strong impression and has drawn significant attention from many famous artists, including Haruomi Hosono and UA.
Since then, she has released a number of albums, including "Utaba Utayun" (2002),
"Uta Asibi" (2003),
"Obokuri" (2005),
"Shimayumuta" (2006),
"Hamasaki" (2007) of which she collaborated with Sitar player, Daikichi Yoshida,
"Obokuri~Eeumi"(2008) of first compilation album,
and "Anma"(2009).
She has worked with a wide range of artists, including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Hiromitsu Agatsuma and UA. She performs with various musical instruments around the world while she maintains the traditional style in her singing. She is well known for her ethereal, earthy vocals. Slightly deep, obviously that of an old lady that conveys a wealth of emotion. Ikue's songs can be emotionally effective, and they have touched many hearts across generations.
